Commendations Program

Honoring Staff Who Go Above and Beyond for the Public

Launched in 2025, the Employee Commendations Program recognizes staff who have gone above and beyond in service to the people of Houston. These commendations are unique because they come directly from the public, submitted as compliments, letters of appreciation, or positive feedback received by the department or the Mayor’s Office.

Media Inquiries

All media relations for Houston Public Works are managed exclusively by the Mayor’s Office of Communications. To ensure consistent, accurate messaging and alignment with department policy, all interactions with the media must be routed through the Mayor’s Office of Communications.
