Hybrid TeleWork Program

Houston Public Works began the Phase 4 Rollout of the Hybrid-Telework Program on Monday, November 6, 2023.  After this initial rollout, HPW supervisors and employees experienced technical issues, which impacted TMS registrations for Hybrid-Telework trainings. HR and external TMS partners worked diligently to resolve these issues.  If you are continuing to experience issues, please contact one of the Department Telework Coordinators identified below:

NOTE: Hybrid Telework is a flexible work arrangement that may not be combined with any other alternative work schedule, including a compressed work week schedule. 
Per Section 6.1 of the Hybrid-Telework Policy, the department director has the sole discretion to determine if the department participates in the hybrid-telework program and how said participation will be implemented. If any employee wishes to appeal the director’s decision, appeals must be sent to the department director and/or the director’s designee. Please email [email protected].

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO KNOW FOR HPW SUPERVISORS AND EMPLOYEES 

  • It is REQUIRED that employees/supervisors COMPLETE the appropriate eLearning Hybrid Training prior to REGISTERING to attend in-person class.
  • Employees, without direct reports, are required to successfully complete the Hybrid Telework Employee eLearning Module prior to registering for the 8 hour (1 day) in-person course entitled Collaborating in a Hybrid Telework Environment for Employees.
  • Managers/Supervisors are required to successfully complete the Hybrid Telework Supervisor eLearning Module prior to registering for the 12 hour (1.5 day) in-person course entitled Leading a Hybrid Telework Team for Supervisors. 
  • PLEASE NOTE: Managers who mistakenly completed the employee e-learning from 11.10.23 - 11.14.23 will receive a completion credit. These managers/supervisors will be identified, and HR will mark their e-learning requirement as completed in TMS and will be able to register for the in-person supervisor’s classroom training. 
  • PLEASE NOTE: Managers must approve classroom training before the class registration closes (48 hours before class date).
  • PLEASE NOTE: All forms and required training should be accessed via the Process Roadmap. Each of the blue icons on the Process Roadmap is hyperlinked. To use the training links on the Process Roadmap, please be sure to FIRST log into TMS on your Google Chrome browser. Functions may not work if you use the Microsoft Edge browser. 
  • REMEMBER: Employees and Supervisors MUST take their designated e-learning and classroom training (they will NOT receive credit if they register and attend the wrong session – except as noted above).
