The City of Houston MKT Spur Connector Trail is near Studemont Street and Interstate 10 in Houston, Texas. The connector closes the major gap between the very popular MKT and White Oak Bayou Greenway trails. The project features 850 feet of a 10-footwide concrete hike and bike trail. Stormwater upgrades, low-flow culverts, retaining walls, and
safety railings are among the improvements.
The project construction is a big challenge the logistics of mobilizing material through and to the site. The material had to be transported through a very tight residential area and down an earthen road to the site. The project was successfully completed through hands-on management and cooperation on all fronts with minimal impacts to the residential neighborhood, environment, or surrounding area.
