Every city of Houston employee is in the service industry: We work so city government can serve the needs of Houston residents.
But there are some among us who stand out, whose superior service and great attitude come natural. And they don't stop when they clock out. They see their time off as an opportunity to serve even more — to coach a kid who needs a positive influence, to go grocery shopping for an elderly neighbor, to paint or handle chores around the house of a disabled resident.
They may prefer helping others quietly to seeking the limelight, but we want to recognize them for their serving spirit that adds to the soul of our city and motivates the rest of us to do something too.
